myfans supports foreign-currency payments. You should not assume every checkout will charge you in Japanese yen. Its payment guide also says your card company may add a foreign-transaction fee.
You have found a creator you want to follow, chosen a plan, and reached checkout. Then the currency changes. Before you approve the payment, separate the plan's price from the amount you are about to authorize.
A different currency does not explain the whole bill
There are three amounts to distinguish:
- The creator's plan price. Start with the exact plan you selected.
- The purchase total. myfans says a separate purchase fee is added. Check the checkout breakdown; do not calculate the total from the plan price alone. See the Japanese plan guide.
- The cost on your card statement. Currency conversion and your card issuer's fees can affect what you ultimately pay. The payment guide says the payment provider sets the applicable exchange rate; myfans does not guarantee it.
Compare the plan price with the checkout breakdown, then with the posted card charge. That gives you a way to locate the extra cost.
If checkout shows TWD instead of JPY
That exact question appeared in a reader's report on Reddit: they wanted to subscribe but were asked to pay in Taiwan dollars.
The official payment guide covers foreign-currency settlement, but does not explain which transactions use TWD or how to force a yen checkout. There is no basis here for a promise that changing your language, browser or location will change the billing currency.
Check the currency code beside the final amount. A familiar-looking currency symbol is not enough. If the amount or currency is unclear, leave the payment unconfirmed and ask myfans support about that transaction. A currency change alone does not establish that a checkout page is genuine, either; return through the creator's own official myfans link if you are unsure how you arrived there.
Already paid, but the merchant name looks unfamiliar?
myfans says card statements use a name other than “myfans.” Its support form directs users to Purchase History to check the statement name. Match that record against the charge before deciding whether you recognize it.
For a charge you cannot match, contact support with the date, amount and currency. Ask myfans about the amount shown at checkout; ask your card issuer about any conversion or fee it applied when posting that charge to your account.
If the two charges are for different plans from the same creator, check how myfans plan changes work. Adding a higher-priced plan does not automatically replace your existing one.
