Tokyo Overnight Spas With Tattoos — Check These Rules First

Toyosu Manyo, Thermae-Yu Shinjuku and Spa LaQua have different tattoo rules. Admission, overnight fees and bath-cleaning hours all affect the plan.

Having tattoos does not produce one answer for Tokyo's overnight spas. Toyosu Manyo allows tattoos that fit under its specified covers. Thermae-Yu Shinjuku publishes conditions that differ by visitor category. Spa LaQua prohibits tattooed entry. Choose from the facility's actual rule before buying admission or travelling there late at night.

The phrase “tattoo friendly” hides the detail you need: whether your tattoos and circumstances fit the rule, and whether that facility suits an overnight visit at all.

Toyosu Manyo has a measurable cover rule

Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club's Japanese FAQ permits tattoos that can be covered by up to two designated sheets, each at most 11 × 20 cm. The sheets cost ¥110 each and must remain in use throughout the facility, not only in the bath. Larger tattoos that cannot fit under those covers do not meet the stated exception.

Measure before deciding. A sleeve should not be assumed acceptable because an online review says a visitor entered with a tattoo. The question is coverage under this property's rule.

If staying overnight, select the appropriate admission or accommodation arrangement and check the final total. Bath admission and a reserved private room are different purchases. The same FAQ lists 03:00–05:00 bath cleaning, when the main baths cannot be used.

Thermae-Yu Shinjuku needs a closer read

The dedicated tattoo notice on its Japanese admission page distinguishes male overseas tourists from Japanese men and foreign male residents, for whom it states a ban. Male tourists must show a passport or flight documentation establishing arrival less than 90 days ago and purchase one designated cover sheet. For women, it permits fashion tattoos under a trial policy; a tattoo larger than 30 × 30 cm requires a designated sheet. Sheets cost ¥330.

The detailed notice allows a tattoo to extend beyond the sheet. Do not transfer that exception to Toyosu, which requires complete coverage within its limit. The Shinjuku page also retains a generic tattoo prohibition further down, so confirm the dedicated exception with reception if your eligibility is unclear. Use the Shinjuku policy, not a similarly named branch's review.

Its bath-cleaning period is 03:00–06:00, despite the facility operating around the clock. Admission after a late event is not the same as immediate access to a bath.

LaQua is not a tattoo option

Spa LaQua's current rules prohibit entry with tattoos and body art, including stickers. They also prohibit temporary exits and re-entry. Do not buy a ticket expecting an unlisted cover-sheet exception.

For companions without tattoos, its overnight surcharge is ¥2,500 for remaining between 01:00 and 06:00, on top of the applicable admission. The same official page lists a maintenance closure on October 5–9, 2026. Check the calendar when choosing a date.

A lounge is not a hotel-room reservation

Before using any spa as an overnight base, ask whether the price includes a reserved sleeping space, shared lounge access or an actual guest room. Do not interpret “open overnight” as a guarantee of a bed. Check the bath-cleaning hours, final departure time and total including overnight supplements.

Also decide whether you need to go out again. A facility with no re-entry does not work as a base for dropping belongings and continuing to bars. Finish those plans before entering.

If the tattoo rules or sleeping arrangement do not fit, compare a private room instead. Solo love-hotel admission is possible at some properties; Tokyo's missed-last-train guide covers the wider overnight decision. Have a confirmed option before travelling across the city after the trains stop.
