Comic Market 109 is scheduled for December 29–31, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. As of October 1, its detailed general-admission information is due in early November. The organizer says the ticket-and-wristband system will follow the shape used for C102–C108, but you should wait for the C109 sales notice before choosing a ticket or paying. The distinction matters if you are arranging flights now. You can plan around confirmed event dates while leaving the admission purchase pending. An old page marked “sold out” does not mean the upcoming winter event has sold out.
Buying the catalogue does not complete admission
For Comiket, keep the catalogue and admission ticket as separate tasks. The organizer's ticket guidance requires a ticket or wristband. The printed catalogue helps you find circles and plan what to see; buying the book alone is not the admission arrangement described for recent Comikets.
C109's announcement says the web catalogue is scheduled for November 6, with the printed catalogue planned for early December. Those dates give you a practical sequence: identify which day contains your interests, then check the corresponding admission sale. Circles are individual creators or groups selling their work, and the daily lineup matters more than choosing whichever date has the cheapest hotel.
The three admission choices to understand
The completed C108 event used these main options:
- Early Entry: a lottery ticket with a name and identity check.
- AM Entry: a wristband, with a limited overseas e-ticket route that required exchanging the e-ticket on site.
- PM Entry: an afternoon wristband, sold in advance at shops and also on site under that event's conditions.
This is background from the C108 international ticket page, not C109 prices, sale dates or availability. C108 required a separate admission item for each day. Its advance PM option avoided a more expensive on-site purchase and the associated sales queue.
For a first visit, ask yourself whether there is a particular circle whose books you must try to buy. That creates a reason to investigate earlier entry. If you mainly want to explore, compare the afternoon option when C109's terms appear. Later arrival can also mean missing stock you wanted; a cheaper ticket does not solve that tradeoff.
What overseas visitors should prepare
Use the organizer's overseas-participant entry page to reach the edition-specific instructions. Confirm the number 109 and the December 2026 dates before following a purchase link.
For any named ticket, register the name that matches the identity document required by that sale. C108's Early Entry instructions required the original passport or Japanese-government photo ID and required winners to issue a paper ticket at FamilyMart in Japan, even after paying online. The upcoming instructions will tell you what C109 requires; do not leave that discovery until the morning of the event.
Save the admission notice, your purchase confirmation and any issuance deadline together. A successful payment and a ticket ready to show at the gate can be separate stages.
The useful next step today
Bookmark the official C109 announcement and return in early November for the general-admission details. Do not buy a reseller's promise while the official sale you need has not been announced there.
If your Japan dates are earlier in December, COMITIA158 is a separate original-work event on December 13. Its catalogue actually does serve as admission, which is another reason not to transfer one event's rules to another.
